It could be my kid

You go in thinking he has an ear infection and pneumonia and find out instead he has leukemia.  Yes, that kid in the hospital...it could be my kid.

The fundraiser I usually drive past because I think, 'how can you not have health insurance for you kid?'  Yes, that could be my kid.

That mom who lost her job because she has to choose between being the moral support her kid needs and making money to support her kid. Yep, that could be us.

Two weeks ago, a classmate of Gabe's went to the hospital for pneumonia and a double ear infection and never left because they found out he has leukemia.  Oh, and it is AML which is pretty aggressive.  You have to hit this cancer with everything available...literally poisoning the body to near death then hoping you can rebuild it.  This is the stuff that keeps me awake at night.  Because it could be my kid.
