Babies Don't Keep

I know a few friends who could use the reminder, just as I do.

Babies Don’t Keep

by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo

The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren’t his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

Firetrucks

Gabe explained to me the other day that he wanted to be a fire fighter not a policeman anymore because firefighters have cooler trucks. Indeed they do! Here are a few pictures from his class trip. They all had such a great time and I am just in love with his teachers. Thank you Lord for people who have the patience and kindness to tenderly (or not so tenderly when needed) guide small children.

Thanks and Praise

Nov 11: Grateful for all my friends in the military and their spouses/families who make it worth defending freedom.

Anthony: For dad. they are even in their Army shirts today :-)

Nov 10: Just grateful.

Nov 9: I am glad I get to stay home and attend field trips. The look on Gabe's face made my day.

Gabe: For firetrucks, gotta admit, they are pretty cool.

Singing At School

So, in order to get people to come to the worthless PTSO meetings at our school, they have the classes perform. I am convinced that they would have no participation any other way. Any whoo....here is Anthony singing the Color Farm for school. He was an orange duck.

Basics

Nov 8: I am thankful for a hot shower and a little heater. That is what I hated most when deployed luke warm shower and a cold bath trailer.

Daily Thanks

Nov 7: Thankful that all it takes to make my kid super happy is 2 TBS of cocoa powder in the waffle mix (no extra sugar or anything).

Nov 6: Thankful that we have a regular sitter who loves our kids and whom our kids love. It is great to see/hear them all playing and laughing.

Nov 5: Thankful that this year, Gabe found that he really liked soccer.

Anthony and Gabe: That they got to watch transformers

Nov 4: Thankful that we cancelled plans for running around so I could just sleep and get rid of my cold.

Anthony: Thankful for being compared to David in 'David and Goliath' by his coach. He was the smallest on his team, but still played without fear. This is the lesson I want him to learn in life.

Doubly Thankful

I am trying not to use the generic kids and family.

Nov 2:

I am thankful that I teach 2nd/3rd graders at church...they remind me to enjoy this time when my kids are small. One day they will roll their eyes and smart off. And even though I know they will still need and want my love, it will be much more strained than it is today.

Anthony: for music class

Gabe: for recess

(yep, sorta sums each kid up pretty well)

Nov 3

I am thankful that I only have to take the kids to the dentist every 6 months. No one was bad, but 3 at once is certainly a challenge. We have all agreed that we are thankful for this.

Singing at Church

Kids' Video

Here is a clip of the ids singing at church a couple of weeks ago.

All I Want for Christmas

yep, that is Anthony's theme song this year. Both front teeth are gone and he has a couple more on the bottom that are loose.

Gabe's School Party

Gabe's school party was so much fun. Each class does different costumes made of paper. Gabe's class was Dalmatians and sang 'who let the dogs out'. another was ice cream cones, another Indians, another candy corns. Those teachers are awesome and so creative. My hat is off to the two teacher's who have the patience to keep 22 little bodies in order.

To top it off, they sang the Mosquito Burrito song. The video is not great. I think I will not really use my D90 for that much...it tends to skip.

Home of the Brave

The boys are singing the national anthem in front of the TV for game 7 of the World Series.

Thankfulness

Many of my friends will post on Facebook what they are thankful for for the next 30 Days. I will try to post here what the kids and I are thankful for. One blog I follow talked about a tree with leaves for fall. I like that and may try to pull that together for tomorrow.

Today I am thankful for a husband that cooks. I came home to perfectly cooked salmon after a long day of running around. Secondly, I am thankful for a baby that will eat salmon and capers like it is going out of style.

Anthony: was thankful for Transformers

Gabe: me too

William: was thankful for cheese sticks...he actually said thank you unprompted. in our house, it's the little things.
