Sidewalk Art

The Savannah College of Arts and Design (SCAD) had a sidewalk art festival today at Forsyth Park. And it was a super lovely day!!!! Today made me love Savannah. Big open park, beer, ice cream, bouncy houses, art and music. Fantastic!

Easter Morning

The boys found their baskets and hunted the eggs. I love Gabe in his Christmas pajamas for Easter.

Easter Chicks

We went with friends to the mall to see the Easter Chicks that hatch with the local 4-H club. The event is sponsored by....wait for it...chic-fil-a. Just makes you smile doesn't it.

Forsyth Park in the Spring

For a Random Play Date, a friend and I took the kids to the park. Forsyth Park sits in the middle of historic Savannah. It is a beautiful space. My boys love playing there. I love playing there because they have a coffee shop and clean bathrooms. We went with Anthony's girlfriend Ella and her younger brother Connor. They are so funny. She is constantly holding Anthony's hand and batting her eyelashes. He looks at her like he is confused. So true of life.

The kids spent their time playing on the playground then running around playing Robin Hood (the sticks are the bows and arrows). I love how they all play so well together. No one is excluded and only minor bickering. They tried to climb the trees. Fortunately the arborists there try to keep the branches above kid climbing height.

It's a Beachin' Day!

Me and my white self love the beach. Even though I burn, I still love it. I love the sound, the smell, the salt, I love it all!!! While I wanted to go to Germany, living within 1 hour of the beach is awesome. So, when we went to Pensacola, I couldn't resist the beach front condo. We were on the 13th floor...and it was fabulous!

We took the boys walking on the beach where they looked for shells to make a collection. They also dug for crabs...never mind that there were none to be found. After all, you should never let reality get in the way of a good adventure and the chance to be sandy. William however, hated the sand. He would not touch the stuff. But after he fell asleep, he took a 2 hour nap on a blanket in the shade. Ahhh!

Mini Vacation

We took the kids to Pensacola for a mini vacation and the chance to see a good friend retire from the Air Force. (I still maintain that I am not old enough to have friends that are squadron commanders or that are eligible for retirement)

We were in Pensacola a few years ago. One of the highlights was taking the boys to the Air Museum at the Naval Air Station. If you are ever in the area...highly recommend it. The museum rivals the National Museum in DC, and it is free/donations only.

The last time we went, we had to literally pry Gabe out of the test cockpits they have available. He was a little more reasonable this time.

Your Toddler, One Year and One Week

He isn't my baby anymore. This was the title of my weekly email from parenting that marks his milestones. The last year has flown by and drug on all at the same time.

I think that 1 just might be William's lucky number.

He was born 1 day before his due date (and my scheduled induction)

He has nursed all the way to 1 year old (after the first two, I thought this could never happen for me)

He was NOT born on the 1st (lucky for him with brothers who are endless jokers)

But most of all he survived his first year 1 day at a time. In that year he has been on 4 plane trips, survived nearly 4000 miles in the car, lived at 2 addresses, seen dad deploy and come home, and survived 2 brothers 'loving him to pieces.'

Here are some pictures from his party. Of course I made him a cake. Anthony told me that William wanted a farm cake with a red barn. The cake should be banana and chocolate with chocolate icing.

Apparently they were right since William seemed to love it.
