Trick or Treating Round 1

The boys went trick or treating at the county courthouse today.  Anthony was excited from the start, but Gabe was indifferent...until he saw the candy.  Once it clicked what this was all about he was very excited.  My mom got to join us before leaving town.  They are both 'daddy lions with manes.'

We also took the kids to the T-Rex restaurant in KC.  It is run by the same people that do Rainforest Cafe, but this one is obviously dinosaur themed.  When we first walked in, Anthony saw the giant mechanical T-Rex and was ready to run.  But I was proud, he took a deep breath and realized it was all pretend and not scary.  We sat under a jellyfish light and got to watch the fish swim in a nearby tank.  The kids just loved it.  I think we will definitely be back.

The Pumpkin Patch

I took the boys to the pumpkin patch about a week ago. We had the place to our selves, but it was cloudy and super windy. Nevertheless, the boys had a great time playing in the fields and looking at the animals there. I got us a treat at the end, hot apple cider and honey sticks.

I think a couple of the pictures will be awesome once I clean them up a bit. Hopefully that will be in a post later today.

We went again on Sat with Rob to get our pumpkins. It was beautiful and sunny and warm...so of course everyone in the area was out to find a pumkin. Anthony has asked everyday for a week when we were going to make our Jack-o-Lantern. Tonight they carve it. Anyways, i am still trying to get a picture of the two of them together and looking pleasant if not smiling.

Deanna Rose Children's Farm

On Saturday, we went to the Deanna Rose Children's Farm for a friends birthday. We knew the Hawbakers in Alaska, and now Holly is in Gabe's preschool class. The boys had a blast...who wouldn't with animals to feed, horses to ride, and birthday cake.

Rough Morning

So when we got back from visiting my folks in TX, the kids had a rough morning. Gabe just couldn't pull it together. He was grumpy and irritable...a lot like his dad when he wakes up sometimes. Normally this isn't an issue, but on this day he had school. Gabe was so distraught he resorted his favorite hiding technique...the Um Blanket (Oma Kathy Blanket).

Boys singing

Here are two clips of the boys singing. The first is "Go Tell it on the Mountain." The second is...no clue. Something about Holy Trinity and 3 in 1.

Treasure in my pocket

Anthony loves to find treasure. It always makes me smile when I see it. Usually it is something from nature, leaves, flowers, acorns...

Today I looked in his pocket and he had acorns and shells. A reminder of the summer and hope for entering fall. He told me the shells were so he could hear the lake. The acorns are so he can feed the squirrels if they get hungry.

Hard to be upset with a kid so sweet, even when he does keep his brother from napping.

Career Day

Today was career day at school. The boys decided to be firemen. Actually Gabe was going to be a SCUBA diver till he saw Anthony's costume, then he wanted to be a fireman. The best part was the costumes cost me about $3 in posterboard and foil. They even had tanks to breathe...just like real firemen.

A Fishy Tale

So to update on the fish. Two of the three puffers died. Rob had trouble with getting the tank to stabilize...the result was dead fish. He did not want to tell Anthony fearing it would crush him. Needless to say, Anthony did find out. Rather than being sad, he responded with, "That's ok. We'll just go to the fish store again!" Mind you he had the biggest kid grin on his face.

Kumquat

Did you know that a baby at 10 weeks gestation is the size of a kumquat?

Well at least that's what 'My Pregnancy' tells me.

Yep, we are having #3. I have my first appointment on Friday afternoon and will post more details then. I should have a due date in early April...but knowing my babies, will likely have the baby in mid-late March.

Aren't We Cute Mommy...

Take our picture. PLEEEAAASSSSEE!

The Zoo

I took the kids to the zoo in KS on Tuesday and we met a few friends. Unlike in WA where everyone we knew had boys, now everyone seems to have girls. The boys do fine either way, I just think it is funny. The zoo has two sides Africa and Australia. We did Africa last time, and Australia this time. We also watched the sea lion show and rode the carousel (which Anthony likes to call the Ferris Wheel). They had so much fun. I love the zoo, and they really love going too.

Fantastic Trip

I am happy to report that Rob and Anthony had a great trip to the fish store. Anthony got a puffer fish and a shark. They are brackish water fish so Rob gets to play with creating a new kind of fish environment. All my boys are happy.

Air Show

We took the boys to the Air Show in KC last weekend. They had a blast...and of course Rob and I loved it too. We ran into friends there as well so all the kids could run around together. While the Air Show part was only average, they had a lot of display and the kids zone was filled with bounce houses and giant slides, so that was a huge hit. They are still talking about seeing the jet car race the MiG17.

There is a Guard Chinook unit in KC, so the boys got to sit in a Chinook. This was definitely a highlight for them.
